| My kids are 6&7 they only play with us, parents. They won't or don't seem to be interested in playing with other kids. I would love to set up a game club, like they do with chess. |
| Mine do, sometimes with each other, but they prefer a family game night. Some libraries have informal game afternoons, but it is just playing with whomever you came with rather than playing with strangers which would be more what you're thinking. Sounds like a fun idea. |
| Mine do - monopoly and chess with friends are their favorites but they'll play others as well - Connect 4 Launchers; Park n Shop; BattleSheep; King of Tokyo; Life; Othello; cards... |
| How old are yours, PP? |
| My kids love board games and cards. Aged 13-9. They play with each other or with us. Last Saturday DH, 13 yrs old son and I played blackjack for about an hour. It's a great way to get a quiet teen to open up. |
| Our kids are 8 and 10, and they play with us as well as with certain friends. We play family games almost every week. Settlers of Catan is a big favorites right now. Love that they are old enough to play interesting games finally! |
|
My DS 10 and 13 both like monopoly and cards - it sort of depends on the moment and they play more when it's cold out - now it's too nice to play too many board games. My DS 10 likes chess but he is better than all of us now so we don't play him that much - he plays that at chess club.
Maybe you need to find new ones - my kids have always liked word games because I do - they like boggle and banana-grams and we just changed the rules or increased the time when they were younger. |
| 7 & 8 and they mostly play Monopoly (the adult version) though they do sometimes get tired as it goes on a long time. |
|
Trouble is a favorite in my kids. Also operation, the game of life, Yahtzee, cards, and a few others I cant think of the names of.
They play with us or with friends, but prefer playing with us because sometimes the friends "don't play it right". |
|
7 and 9 ds's play with each other or we play as a family ( tournament style for the two player games)
favorites right now are... card games (war or uno) electronic battleship Stratego monopoly empire |
|
Our 7 and 4 year old will sometimes play games together without us. The older is very patient with the younger, and the games often morph a bit as the younger skips steps, takes breaks or ignores rules. Amazingly, they seem to work it out and keep playing.
Favorites are Trouble, Scrabble Jr, Monopoly Jr, Connect 4 and sometimes Memory Match. |

My daughter's girl scout troop has game night once a month. They each bring a game and spend 4 hours at one house playing games. They are 11 and have been doing it since they were 8. No electronics devices allowed. We each rotate as host and we have basic munchies. In the winter (Jan-March) they do it twice a month. They love it.
As a family we are huge board game and card game fans. |
| 7,9 and 13. My kids like board games, once they get started, but that can be like pulling teeth. They usually play with parents or grandparents. Favorites right now are Carcasonne and Risk and Life. |
| Mine just turned 6 and can really only play board games with his grandparents or DH and I. He is still too immature to play with his friends - it always ends up with crying or a fight. So he plays board games with us, and more noncompetitive things like legos or pretend with friends. |
|
Mine play mostly with each other or sometimes with one of us. They also joined a chess club, which was good because they are way too good at it for either of us to be a challenge.
Besides chess, they play backgammon, monopoly, life, sequence, spot it, all kinds of card games, scrabble, boggle, upwards and clue. There are a few others that I can't recall right now. |
