Maybe I can blame it on the tv show Mad Men. I used to love the ornate and gold trimmed style of Country French.
However, I now can't stand anything too ornate or large and cushiony, and I instead like the furniture at places like House of Denmark. I started with my first purchase of a Skovby dining table because it was so functional and easy to expand. It is the best investment in furniture I have made, and I love the look of this table. Has anyone else ever switched your decor style, just a complete turn around? |
Yup and my tastes have pretty much followed the same arc as yours. Can't afford to replace everything though. What I've done is edit the amount of furniture in my rooms. Luckily I have a very clean-lined sofa and club chair. That makes the big, over-sized wing chairs less objectionable. Added more modern furniture pieces (coffee table and end table), accessories (vases, pillows, candlesticks) and lamps. The marriage of the two schools looks pretty good, if I do say so myself. |
