TTC while sick?

Ok, probably a dumb question, but is there any reason not to TTC when one or both partners has a cold, ear or sinus infection, or other mild illness? Prime TTC time is approaching and DH and I have both been sick for a couple weeks. (Which is annoying enough in itself.) Other than the discomfort and annoyingness of doing the deed if we're not in the mood, is there a reason to pass until next month? Will the quality of the egg or sperm be affected or something? We've been sick all winter due to my toddler bringing stuff home from day care so if illness is a reason not to try, I don't know when the heck we will ever be healthy enough to go for a second!

It's fine-- if that were enough to stop, the human race would not exist. Just watch out for the effects of cold medicine on your CM.

Mucinex will help your cervical mucus. Anything that thins mucus will help your cm!

No reason not to try, just be careful about taking over the counter meds.

Yuck, I'm totally in the same place. Keep getting better for a week and then my toddler brings home something new for us all to get. So tired of being sick!

We have just been pushing through and doing it anyway. I don't see any reason not to TTC during this period. The only risk is to be careful taking meds toward the end of your cycle in case you're pregnant after implantation (for most of your cycle, the meds wouldn't cross to the baby yet anyway).

This was us without fail the entire winter one of us was such during the fertile week. One month we tried my coughing was so bad that I basically, uh, eliminated all chances of sperm meeting egg immediately every time. I don't know whether to take this as a sign, but we're hoping spring will bring better results, at least once this darn pollen clears up!
