Barrel in SE/on the Hill?

Anyone been for Sunday brunch? Would bringing a baby be totally inappropriate? I have some old friends coming thru DC on their way home to NYC and they are stopping there for brunch because they've heard Barrel has the best bloody Marys in the city. I am stuck with the wee one today but would like to see them. Given that I know it at least used to really only be a bar -- I frequented it when it was the 18th Amendment and I was an intern on the Hill -- I'm thinking I might have to regretfully pass, but thought I would ask here and see if anyone has been and can report back.
Also- how is the place?
