| The administration seems great but can anyone tell me about the teachers at Lee? I have heard mixed reviews. Has anyone observed the students in action? How engaged were the teachers? |
|
We love our teacher. Kid is learning a lot and the classroom environment is great. We have observed the classroom, interacted at conferences and parent nights. We have met all of the teachers at parent education nights and they all seem great. Every teacher seemed to know the names of all of the children in the building. Not sure what you mean by "engaged". It is Montessori so there is supposed to be a lot of time when children are working and teachers are observing students. My child's teacher has an individual learning plan for each student based on where each is in the curriculum.
The lead teachers all have Masters degrees (I believe) and there seems to be a strong commitment to professional development. We hear also that all of the teachers from the first year are staying on for the second year. So in summary, we are pleased. |
| OP, how much experience do you have with Montessori? |
| OP what do you mean by mixed reviews for the teachers? |
| Does anyone know the new location? |
| The new location for 2016-2017 has not been announced. It sounds pretty sure not not set in stone (real estate rarely is). |
| If itnsounds pretty sure does that mean a location is being discussed. Don't want commute issues next year. |
| This year we are at the IT building. Next year hopefully at an unnamed building within a mile (hopefully). |
| All the teachers are fantastic - outstanding even. Can you clarify what you mean by mixed reviews? The only issues I am aware of are related to the Montessori method, not the teachers themselves who are universally great and loved by the kids. |
Do you have all the teachers? I'm not sure how you can make that statement if you've never actually been inside each classroom for at least a semester. Seeing them one time or meeting them does not give you an opportunity to make that statement. |
| Still concerned about the location. Surprised the school has not shared what they are looking at , except to say either Ward 5 or in close proximity. |
That's the absolute best way to go about things. They are not moving for 1.5 years. There is no rush especially if not final. |
| We're at the school too and have not heard mixed reviews about the teachers. Sometimes I've been in conversions with families from different classes where it seems like each parent thinks their teacher is the best, so that's good news! Every parent I've talked to is planning to have their kids stay for next year, including at least a couple families who did lottery but decided not to take their option. We've been really happy and look forward to welcoming new families. I hope the school can keep its close knit feel as it slowly grows. |
New poster here. It is a small, close knit school. I know many of the parents, and I know parents in all four classrooms I have not heard any "mixed reviews" about teachers; all I have talked with have liked their kid's teacher even if there are things about the school (like price of lunch, naps for pk3 non-nappers) that they have complained about. (Now that I think about it, I haven't talked at length with a parent in the first grade classroom, but I can't imagine anyone giving that teacher a mixed review). My own kid waxes poetic about the teacher. Ok, not really, but "adores" might be a good word. You should see his/her face light up whenever the teacher's name is mentioned. Thrilled that all the teachers are staying for next year. Also not sure what you mean by engaged. I feel like my teacher knows my child well and interacts with my child based on this knowledge. |
I will add that location is a concern as is the new price of aftercare. But I am committed to staying if at all possible despite these possible hurdles for my family. I love this school. |
