Without the Costco member being present?
Is this allowed, tolerated, or strictly forbidden? Thanks. |
Yes. I've done it. |
It is expressly not allowed. That is why there are photos of the member on the card. |
Ive used my parents before without an issue. |
It can result in the member having their membership revoked.
That said I am sure it happens. My pic is so terrible I am sure anyone could use it. That said if you are looking for a way to get into costco without a mmbership you can do this. Have your member friend purchase you a costco gift card. With a gift card you can shop there without a membership - but you have to go to the service desk first to get a day pass first. Never tried it but I remember reading it somewhere. |
you can also order costco for delivery using instacart - don't need to be a member |
Because you got away with it does NOT mean it's ok. |
It is not allowed. That being said, my husband's parents used my husband's card (he and his dad have the same name and the picture is grainy anyway) for quite some time before buying their own membership. However, I have accidentally switched cards with my husband and always get called out by the cashier when I give them a card that obviously belongs to a man. I explain that we mixed them up, pull out my ID to show my last name is the same, and they let it go. |
I've occasionally gone with a member, but paid separately, and no one has ever questioned it. |
OP here. Many thanks - I made plans to accompany a member. Don't want to cause trouble for her! |
People try this all the time at the pentagon city costco and they actually check and won't allow it. I know because, unfortunately, I have been caught behind them as they argue with the cashier over it. |
Just get the owner to purchase you a $25 gift card,or give the card owner money
You can purchase without membership that way |
I accidentally mailed my mom my card once and hers. I figured the picture was so small I could use hers. The cashier immediately said it was an "old lady" not me. I had to get customer service to pull up our membership to show I really had my own card, just the wrong one with me. |
As long as you are using your own debit card/am ex you don't need the member to pay for you. Before I got my own membership, I used to go with a friend all the time and they never said boo when I checked out separately from her, though she had just paid for her own items. |
Only I they are with you. You can have seperate receipts. |
