Job applications with online resume builders

Have you had better luck building your applications with your uploaded resume or linked in? I've only done two so far, but something about my resume must be off since it uploads so oddly. Or is it post for the course to have to refill in a bunch of fields?

I got my gov't job only after using the resume builder. I did attach my regular resume as well, but I think the automatic reader works better with the builder.

For the NGO jobs I'm looking at they require both. All the electronic field filled in plus an uploaded resume. But the auto resume builder is a bit of a pain, switching location and firm or title and firm name. So you have to go into the form and manually fix it.
