Flexible Spending Account (FSAFeds) and Shady Grove

Anonymous
I am going to do my second FET with SG in June. This is my first year enrolling in an FSAFed account because of the fertility treatments I knew I would have this year. I only have 1 covered IVF attempt left for insurance so I am going to pay out of pocket for this FET. When I talked with SG, they said that I would just get a receipt with one line item for the $4600 out of pocket cost for the FET since it's a packaged deal.

Am I going to have no luck in getting the FSAFed to reimburse anything that I'm paying for this FET since it won't be itemized? I know they only pay after services are rendered so I don't know how that works.

If any one has any insight I would really appreciate it! Thanks!!

If you have a receipt listing it's for a FET, you should be reimbursed fine. You'll submit the receipt they give you and if it's not good enough you have time to get something else from SG. Trust me, they can give you whatever paperwork you need if you talk to the right person, but one receipt for 4600 with your treatment listed is prob enough.

I paid 1850 with my FSA debit card and receipt (county govt) no problem.

That one hand written receipt to turn into your FSA company is indeed enough.

I have a different fsa provider but you might want to look into whether you also need a letter of medical necessity I had to get my nurse to fill one out along with the receipt in order to get reimbursed for icsi.

FSAFeds says that it's an eligible expense with no specification that a letter of medical necessity is needed.

Interesting because when I submitted to FSA they required proof that insurance didn't cover any portion of the expense (even though receipt clearly indicated that payment was made in full on my credit card).

That's interesting that they would ask you to prove that your insurance didn't cover it. I didn't think that was a requirement for insurance not to cover something for it to be reimbursed by FSA. It just had to be an eligible expense.

That's what I thought too... but one month later, still waiting to be reimbursed. I think maybe it has to do with my particular plan, and perhaps the need for the doc to indicate that testing was medically necessary. Would be nice to get reimbursed, but I'm sure i'll incur enough other expenses to eat up my FSA money if I don't.

For some reason our FSA Feds $ goes straight into the bank account. We have had issues reconciling the deposited amounts against EOBs. I don't know that we have ever submitted for reimbursement to FSA Feds.

ur seeing these reimbursements pop up because you signed up for paperless reimburesment. if the reimbursement is less than 25 dollars it will hold in the account until the reimbursement reaches the 25 dollar amount

Same. I have even used our FSA for co-pays.

if it's a global fee, FSAFEDS does NOT cover it. it has to be itemized and include dates of service. i learned this the hard way.
