Woodson class size

Would love to hear from current Woodson High School parents what the average class size is right now. 20? 30?

Woodson teacher here. I would take a pay cut if class sizes were 20...my classes range from 26 to 32.

Due to boundary changes with Annandale and Fairfax high schools, numbers will rise in the coming years. I believe the class of '18 is the largest in the history of the school.

Then why don't you offer this as an alternative? Teachers always seem to want more money for what they do in place of class size decreases. I believe teachers are underpaid, but more than that, I feel they're overworked.

Small class sizes = more staff needed, more space needed.
It is cheaper to give the teachers a minuscule pay increase than to decrease class size.

Agreed on the part of FCPS. However as a teacher, I'd want to be sure I had a job and I'd want one that didn't expect more than I could handle. However instead of going on record saying they want smaller classes, most teachers just go on record saying they want a pay increase.
