Smoked Salmon

Just discovered my 2 year old loves this. Other than the abundance of salt, is there any other reason I should limit it?

mercury

Make sure it's wild, not "sustainably caught". Even the best antibiotic-light farms which don't overstock their fish have disease problems and can't feed the fish the natural food they would eat in the open ocean.

Actually salmon has one of the lowest levels of mercury.

My two year old loves it too - I think (like all food) moderation is probably good, but finding something your two year old will eat that has some healthy factor - totally a good thing!

Salmon is a great food for kids. I stir a can of salmon through mac n cheese.

If your kid likes smoked salmon, they may also like sardines, which are cheap, extremely nutritious, and delicious.

Salmon is a fantastic food--full of good fats and omega-3s. It's got a low mercury content. My kid loves broiled salmon and sashimi. I try to serve it at least once a week, if not twice.
