any experts on the housing market, is this a good time to buy a house in norther virginia area, alexandria, springfield or fairfax.

If you can wait, I would definately hold off. It now appears that the interest rates will probably stay low for awhile and prices have definately come down. If you don't have another place to sell, I think you will only gain by waiting a few more months.

I'm not a real estate expert but will give you my 2 cents anyway

Start looking at houses and go to open houses. If you see a house you absolutely love, put in an offer! You don't know if it will be around in a few months. If you wait a couple months, there may be no houses you absolutely love on the market.

Don't try to time the market - start looking and don't worry if this is a good time or not when you come across the house you love.
