SO we had new carpet installed in our rental unit. The walls are a dark hunterish green with beige carpet, other walls on the first level are a light blue with flooring a brown/grey/blue tile
we picked out a grey colored rug, hoping it would wear better than the beige one we took up. It looks blue ![]() What color or colors can I paint the walls to make the rug appear more grey? |
White, white, white. With a chalky/gray undertone. |
Holy mother of god its blue. Nothing grey about it. My husband said it "looked a little blue" all rolled up. He didn't stay to watch them roll it out. I was sure he was having a lighting/colorblind moment. I am 100% positive the sales guy wrote down the wrong color. Its horrible.
As I was writing this my husband called the sales guy and they came to the conclusion that he did write down the wrong color, but my husband signed off on it this am. So they are trying to figure out a solution! I can't believe I didn't go over this am to check it, but was taking kids to school |
I ordered a very large charcoal gray rug for my new baby's room and my husband was home to accept the delivery last week. He accepted a burnt orange rug. I could not believe it. I had told him expected color of the rug a while back and shared the receipt with him. Installed wall to wall carpeting sounds like a much more difficult situation though-- sorry! Some husbands are particularly oblivious to color, I guess. |
I think I would take the opportunity to redo the paint in a more neutral tone throughout the house. Maybe a soft neutral yellow or tan. |
Best case: get a massive discount on the carpet and paint all the walls Revere Pewter or some other pale greige. Or white. |
I wouldn't go grey walls. Eventually Op might want to replace this blue carpet with grey carpet. Grey walls + grey carpet would be sort of dreary.
Pick a color for the walls that is neutral enough to go with both this blue carpet and a possible grey carpet down the road. |
Maybe SW Softer Tan. |
Well the sales rep told us the carpet was mislabeled on the swatch board. So we kept saying "the grey one" and he was saying "Bermuda" so when my husband checked the slips agains each other this am they matched so he thought he was not seeing the color right rolled up in the van.
Anyway the carpet place is getting back to us with a solution to replace the carpet. Honestly we would have to redo the entire townhouse around the color of the carpet and that is not possible. It's like recycle bin blue lmao Thanks for all the suggestions! |
OP can you post a photo? |
The installer arrived with the wrong carpet here too. Tried to convince me it was right. Luckily I had the sales slip. And it did look very close.
I think this is quite common. And not an honest mistake. |
OP here
I have no idea how put a photo on here? So they are coming and replacing the carpet tomorrow free of charge. Apparently the color swatches were mislabeled on the swatch board. We are very happy with the customer service we have recieved from them ( empire ) if I can figure out how to upload a picture I will give you all a laugh ![]() |
