Dr. Kuwabara? Recent experiences?

Anonymous
I am the poster looking to get a 2nd opinion for her daughter.

Dr. Kuwabara came up on my short list AND he takes our insurance.

It is a bit of a drive for us to his office. He seems to have some older, mostly positive reviews, but also a handful of not so good ones.

Any recent experiences?

After the sticky was created there have been a lot less requests for information on pediatric dentists - here is the sticky in case you missed it:

That's who we see too. I would trust him for a second opinion. They have never tried to up-sell us. He's very straight forward. He is very warm and friendly but no nonsense - some parents think a dentist should play for x amount of time for kids to warm up. But, its a business and he has patients after you. I had to hold my kid the first few times we went but last visit my kid changed his mind and loved going so much that he asks to go back frequently.

They do take insurance and make it very easy. There is parking in the back - they will give you a token to get out or there is street parking.

I find it odd that right after OP posted - there were 3 positive comments, back to back.

Everyone loves him - he is always highly recommended. If you were to go to Turtle Park and ask the kids who sees Dr. Kuwabara half the kids will raise their hands. He is great with all types of kid personalities. Works with them where they are. Makes the dentist experience a positive one.

What else would you want?

We love him too. He has worked patiently for years with my now six-year-old son who has severe ADHD and sensory issues, working him up to fully cooperating. It's a very difficult job but he has and his staff have done it wonderfully.

It's a very large practice. There are a ton of happy patients. I'm sure if you ask Jeff he can confirm for you that those are all from different people.

My son, who is generally very slow to warm to new people, really likes him and happily goes to the dentist!

I went to his father who was very nice.

He is awesome. We have been with him since 2007.

My kids have seen him for years. He doesn't take our insurance, but we still prefer to stick with him. And I agree - most of the neighborhood go to him (I also know people far from our neighborhood who do). He has never tried to push treatment that isn't completely necessary.
