Ok I get those big pork Italian sweet and spicy ones from Whole Foods. I put them in a pan with some water and heat them up, covered. But I think this might not be the way to do it?
Can someone tell me: water or no water, covered or no cover, temp (medium?) and how long each side? Thank you! |
| I would always err on the side of over cooking rather than undercooking with a sausage for food safety reasons. |
| Thanks, PPs! |
| low heat, long time |
| I'd say lid on with a little water, then lid off and let them brown and let the water evaporate. You can also boil them to get rid of the grease and make sure they're cooked, then brown them. |

Water? Really? I've never heard of cooking sausages with water.
I cook them either in a frying pan on the stove or on the broil setting in my toaster oven. |
Whatever gets them cooked is good. Parboiling is often recommended before browning. But I've done it both ways. What's important is not to use so much heat that they burn on the outside before they cook on the inside. |
| No, I'm sure, and it makes sense when I think about boiling hot dogs. I just had never heard of it being done that way. |
It works with frozen sausages and is often included in the instructions on the packet. It would be a travesty to cook fresh sausages this way though. grill or fry |
