I am purchasing a new home In arlington and will move in may. I am more excited about working on the landscaping and planting a garden than I am about the inside of the house. This will change over time of course but it's what I am excited about right now.
With respect to a fruit and vegetable garden, what can I plant in May? With respect to landscaping the yard, what do you recommend? I want to do as much as possible as soon as we get in, so time of year is my biggest concern. |

You won't be able to do everything in a year. If you try to do too much in the beginning, over time you will realize that you have over planted. The first year you may want to deal with the beds, put in a few perennials, but do mostly annuals. The next year, see what comes back., I've been in my house for over three years and this year we'll add some more permanent plants.
For vegetables, not too late at all. Last year I did surprisingly well with those pods that have the seeds in them. I'm sure I didn't plant those until at least May. |
| tomatoes, zuchinni, peppers, cucumbers can all go in in May. |
