| Yes. Just found out we lost on a house in spring valley. We were renting in the neighborhood but now won't have Ib status. |
Thanks for your response. Sorry to hear that you lost the bid on the house you wanted. It happened to us a few years ago, so I can imagine the feeling. Nevertheless, maybe is for the better. We love our current house Good luck!

Yeah, it sucks. Especially because the home buying is so tied up in the school enrollment process. We'll probably still buy in spring valley -- we really love the neighborhood -- but it won't be before may 1.
Those are the breaks. In the end, it will cost us another year of preschool. Lumping that cost into the home makes it seem like a rounding error. Enjoy Mann. Everyone we meet loves it. Loves it. We'll see you there eventually. |
Where will you be living on May 1? If you'll still be in your IB rental, you can use that address to register and buy yourself more time to buy a house. |
| Probably too risky. Daycare has a two-month cancellation policy. We could verify current residency today but not necessarily if there is a follow up check. Plus, it may turn out that we buy elsewhere. Doubtful, but I don't want to be pigeon-holed, and the resulting commute could be a beast. |
Thanks! I hope we can finally enroll our DC this year, if not it would be the next one. We will meet eventually As I said, best of luck with the house search; and yes, I agree that giving the current housing market the cost of a year in preschool might -unfortunately!- seem marginal

| Mann parent who had a child in PK4. There is not a follow up. |
Hi, sorry, I don't understand your post. Do you mean they do not follow up on the WL or on children? Thanks for clarifying! |
|
THey don't follow up on residency, once you're enrolled and shown proper verification.
FYI, One of the Pre-K teachers just announced she's pregnant and due in the fall so the teacher for that class is up in the air. |
Are you in bound or any other priority? |
| In-bound |
Thanks for the info. The thing is that even if some families might not have been selected for a follow-up on residency that doesn't mean there isn't. Audits are not generally done on the entire population, but just on a random sample (or if someone complains..., check this thread http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/459364.page;jsessionid=7E0AFD47D1A0F1F736B3EB2DA026F5E4.dcum2) |

I'm 3/28 18:37 and the relevant prior posts. This is my first reply since 18:37.
Thanks for the notes regarding residency checks. Nonetheless, we will decline in a few weeks since the commute would be a problem if we move elsewhere. Doubtful but maybe. Plus, this way I can tell myself we are doing the honorable thing. |
