What is up with coconut oil

Anonymous
I get that its image has been rehabilitated, but am not entirely sure a) what I should use it in; b) why; c) what it tastes like.

Anyone care to enlighten me?

My husband and I have been on Paleo for several months and use coconut oil with everything. Everything we used to use olive oil for, we now use coconut oil. I also use it for lotion and in my hair. I find that it has a really nice slight sweetness to it.

It also has antibacterial properties

It's a great butter substitute for baked goods. I use it for a friend who's allergic to dairy. Everything comes out great.

There's a thread on here about putting it on private parts as part of everyday hygiene. For men and women.

What brand and type (spray/oil in hands) if I am going to try on hair instead of argan oil?

A study with 26 patients is hardly ground breaking.

The hype over coconut oil is ridiculous. https://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/coconut-oil/

The Mediterranean diet has long established to be healthy. And neanderthals didn't cook with coconut oil.

Do your own Google research. I posted the first link I clicked on. Article choice was totally arbitrary. There is plenty of stuff you can read up on.

I grew up with coconut oil pressed from our own trees. We use it for cooking and beauty purposes, but no one makes a fuss over it.
It is certainly a good oil for many purposes, but the same can be said of many others. There is nothing especially miraculous about coconut oil.

As someone born in India, I find the coconut oil hype absolutely ludicrous.

How is a coconut more "paleo" than an olive?
