Edibles for labor

I'm hesitant to even ask, but I wonder if anyone has tried edibles during labor to help relax or ease some of the labor pains. I'd love to ask the Midwives about this, but I'm also terrified that they would have to put some note in a "file" and then someone else my want to drug test me and send in CPS. I'm not smoking/consuming during my pregnancy but was more curious about it just for labor...

Absolutely not. You never know what kind of medicstions or interventions you may need. not to mention the physiological affects that it would have

Agreed. Also, given that I recall being tested for STDs while in labor under DC law, I wouldn't put it past them to do drug testing...

And I was going to say no to that as well! I just got a lecture from my OB about the risks of general anesthesia after a failed VBAC...it was terrifying and I won't be eating anything, legal or not.

Oh stop freaking out. In what world is a spinal anesthetia okay and all sorts of pain medication afterwards but a pot brownie the end of the world? People use to drink whisky during surgeries. I don't partake but I'm hearing knee-jerk reactions rather than actual facts that it's harmful.

It isn't the end of the world, but let's use logic. OP isn't going to tell anyone that she ate a pot brownie to get through labor, right? So if she is delirious and needs medication that may not play well with weed, what is she supposed to do then? If she needs general anesthesia, where you aren't supposed to have eaten at all, I guess she'll just risk aspiration into her lungs because she didn't mention her pot brownie?

People really aren't "delirious" from pot. And do you really need a completely empty stomach for general anesthesia -- I thought that was overkill, lots of OBs let you munch in labor.

Is she had a brownie, the labor pain wouldn't make her delirious!!

OPS, I'd advise against the edible in case of a drug test.
