Infertility Support and Discussion

So I've been nursing DD and she's 16 months old and I hadn't gotten my period back yet. DH and I don't want to TTC until this summer, so we use condoms every time. I'm starting to wean DD to get my body ready.
Late last week I noticed signs of ovulation (cervical fluids) and this weekend when DH and I had intercourse we used a condom, BUT when we first started fooling around, he did penetrate me without a condom. It was WAY early on in the session and he was no where close to ejaculation. Well it's now less than a week after we had sex and I have terrible cramping and just a tiny bit of blood. I thought it was my first pot-partum period, but since the bleeding started 6 hours ago, it hasn't gotten heavy at all. So my question is this--what is the likelihood that I could be pregnant when he didn't even ejaculate inside of me! I can't believe I wrote that--it seems like such a silly question, but I honestly don't know. Could my cramping/slight bleeding be implantation?? Since I haven't had my period back since before DD was born (and I only had 1 period between getting off the pill and getting pregnant and my cycle was way off then too) I have no clue what's going on with my body. Any thoughts? Thank you! |

OP again...I actually didn't read much on this board before I wrote this post (usually on general discussion). I guess I didn't realize it was mostly (all?) about fertility problems/ivf/iui etc.
If this was the wrong place to post this, I am SO sorry! |
Yes, you could be pregnant. A man does not need to ejaculate to put sperm inside of you. When he gets excited, sometimes semen will leak before full ejaculation and that's all it takes!

| Good friend got pregnant just this way.... |
| Yes, you could be pregnant, which serves as good reminder to everyone: penis don't go in vaginas unprotected (even for just a little while!) unless you are ready to get pregnant! |
OP here. Thank you for your feedback! It's definitely my period, but I'll tell my DH to be more careful in the future

actually . . . pre-ejaculation does not contain sperm unless it is leftover from a recent ejaculation. If he has ejaculated and urine is passed through the urethra, it washes the sperm out. I know that everyone has their stories . . . but I usually file these in the same category as "the condom broke". My point is . . . if it has been a few days between ejaculations, then it probably doesn't. Here is a little more information:
Numerous published studies have shown there are no sperm cells in pre-ejaculatory fluid ("precum"). This is the clear, slippery fluid that oozes from the penis during sexual excitement. As long as the male does not ejaculate semen -- which is rarely clear and is accompanied by very distinct and pleasurable sensations associated with involuntary muscle contractions inside the male which force the semen out -- there should be no sperm cells coming from the penis. The real problem is with recent ejaculations. |
