| Is there any movement in waitlists before May 1? And when did most of the movement happen last year? The month of May? June? Later? |
| Yes! I want to know as well. How long do we realistically have to wait? Obviously this is school dependent... but is there a general trend or a slow trickle? |
| Buckle in. Depending on how high your number is, you'll be waiting throughout the summer. We didn't get in to our IB school (were were #5) until August. |
What grade? |
| PK3 |
For the most part, I think schools will wait until after the May 1 deadline has passed before starting to accept from the WL. It's easier administratively to do it in waves rather than one spot at a time. |
| Nothing will move until after May 1. |
| When a set of triplets turns down Mundo Verde! |
| Let's say you're #5 on a waitlist and someone declines their spot. Do you somehow find out you are now #4? |
| We are waiting for PK3 and for K. I'm trying to get a better sense of whether movement tends to happen toward the beginning of the process right after the enrollment deadline (ie, in May), or just randomly throughout the summer. |
Yes. You will be able to login to your family account at MSDC and get updated waitlist numbers. |

Looked at the boards from last year. Looks like the first round of wait list calls did not start until the second week of May. So I would expect to see the first bit of movement around May 11-15. Then, it seemed to trickle down.. with steady but slow movement throughout June, July, and mid August.
I know this does not help at all... but it helped to at least know I should put it out of my mind until mid May. |
I emailed a principal to get a beter idea of movement.. he said they first wait for lottery winners to register before May 1. Next, they gather info about who will return next year. They won't be looking at the waitlist people till after that in May sometime. It may be a long summer for many of us.

| Does anyone know to what wait list number Yu Ying went last year for PK3? |
I remember it went to about 5, based on what I read on DCUM. But it was outside of the common lottery, so hard to compare. |
