Looking for good picture framing service in MD or DC

Anonymous
I have a family heirloom in pastels that needs to be framed. If touched, it will smudge, so I need a framer who has experience with different kinds of art, does a skillful job, has tasteful advice, and ideally isn't too expensive. Is that possible? Prefer MD or DC. Thanks!

L'eclat de verre in Georgetown was great, but I think they relocated.

Frameworks in Rockville. I've gone here for years everything from prints to oil painting to vintage maps and our ketubah. Excellent work. He has a coupon on his site sometimes. It'll be more than a box store but the quality is great. He does framing for the Smithsonian print collections.

Framesmith on 11th in DC. It's by appointment only, but Paula has great taste, will take good care of your art and her price for the job I had done was surprisingly reasonable.

I also just used the Frame Shop in Tenleytown for a very small job and had a good experience. They have a 40% off sale right now.

+2 I clicked here to suggest them specifically!

I had a photo that I wanted framed with a specific matting design (basically a cut out underneath the print listing where it was taken and the photographer for sentimental purposes). They totally understood what I wanted and offered design input on how to make it even better than I'd hoped. They didn't charge extra because the changes were their suggestion (i.e., they did it to make the print look better, NOT for the extra $)

I've had good luck with Takoma Framers on Carroll Ave (same row of shops as Takona Park Animal Clinic). the owner's a bit kooky but he does a really nice job and prices are reasonable.
