How to cope. Must not be depressing. Humor required and also some nuanced discussion. I am struggling with getting old. Still have kids under 10 and parent alive but getting older. Have anxiety for the first time in my life and marriage isn't great.
Looking to read over spring break. Don't get to read many books. |
| I am not sure its the kind of book your're looking for but Roddy Doyle wrote a series of books in the early 90's the most famous was The Commitments which was made into a film. The third in the series is about the middle aged dad in the family, The Van - its insightful, funny and thought provoking. I do recommend it. |

I Don't Know How She Does It.

| Middlemarch |
| Are you looking for fiction or nonfiction? I find the Christiane Northrup books very inspirational, although I don't subscribe to all of her ideas. |
| The Wife by Meg Wolitzer. Acerbic, clever, and astute. |
|
"I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman" by Nora Ephron |
I did not like that book. I don't think it's along the more upbeat lines that the OP is looking for anyway. |

What Alice Forgot
|
| I don't think Middlemarch is relevant to middle age. The main protagonists are in their 20s. |
| My Formerly Hot Life. So funny. About aging by someone in their 40s now. |
| Loved What Alice Forgot. Light, but thought provoking. |
