| We are thinking about summer camps or a birthday party for my Lego-obsessed kid (turning 6 y.o.). The Bricks4kidz website shows a DC Creativity Center at 1130 6th St NW. Looking for any information, positive or negative, about this company, location and the programs there. Or if you would recommend another company for Lego camps or parties, I'd love to hear about it. We are looking for programs located in DC, or where the company will bring the supplies to have a party at your home in DC. Thank you in advance! |
| We hired Play Well TEKnologies (http://play-well.org) for my son's birthday party. They brought the Legos to our house and provided two people to do a project with the kids, who had a blast. They also run occasional programs at the National Building Museum (we had done one there and liked it prior to the party). The National Building Museum also does Lego-themed parties, though you may need to be a member to be able to sign up for one. |
| I would love to hear any feedback re: the camps. Considering enrolling my 5 year old in August. Thanks! |
DS went to a birthday party with Play Well and also took a lego robotics class when he was 4. My experience is that the teachers/leaders are often not "kid people". Maybe they're great engineers or techies, but kid skills leave much to be desired. This isn't universally the case, but I think I'd want to meet the person who would actually be leading the party before committing. |
NP here. We've had several birthday parties with PlayWell and DC has attended quite a few PlayWell camps. All the teachers we've had contact with have been great with the kids, and my DC has adored them. |
| We did Bricks4Kidz last summer for one week. They are in the basement of a townhouse space on an urban block of houses near the convention center and Kennedy Rec playground/spraypark (where they go for outdoor time.) My kids enjoyed it, especially the legos or course, the ladies that run it are sweet...the kids are well supervised, although my 5 year old complained about one older girl camper (8 or 9 years old?) who was kind of pushy. Great for me because I work nearby on L Street. I would not do it for a whole summer but for one - two weeks it would be fine. There is a web coupon/groupon available for half off the week that makes it a really good deal. |
