Ideas for vacation with toddler?

Anonymous
We are looking to go somewhere with a group of friends where everyone will have a toddler or two - most under 2yo. Any ideas on good places to go for this? Nothing overly pricey like Europe, but would appreciate some specific suggestions, i.e. cities, resorts, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Rent one of those giant houses in Corolla, NC right on the beach with a pool, game room, and a million bathrooms. Fill it with groceries and booz. Add families. Enjoy.

My suggestion would be picking a place that will offer some childcare, kids clubs so you and the other adults can have some adult time without "worrying" about the kids. I'd suggest one of the Beaches resorts in Jamaica (or something similar), although I've never been, friends like them because they offer great kids clubs, beach, activities and family activities.

Another thought is Disney, plenty to do for the kids and the adults and they too have kids clubs or in room baby sitting for adult time.

If you are looking for something closer, then I'd second what the above poster mentioned about Outer Banks and renting a huge house. There's always my favorite beach, Hilton Head, which would offer a similar thought.

I would go on a cruise. Cruises are kinda cheesy but often have great child care options. We took our 1yr old and 3 yr old on a 7 day cruise. There was a camp for the kids, plus a kiddy pool complete with kid-sized chaises, and the counselors all seemed competent (college kids from around the world taking a semester at sea). We generally spent the day with the kids, dropped them off at camp mid afternoon so we could go to the fitness center or spa, hung out with them some more, and then had the babysitter stay with them while they were sleeping.

We went to Bar Harbor Maine with a 14 month old. It was perfect. Lots of things to do for short amounts of time. We stayed in a cabin with a kitchen. But you can rent houses too. Hiking, drives, down to a sand beach, bike, boat tours, carriage rides (horse and carriage on carriage roads).

I second the Outerbanks NC (Corolla). We go every year in August with other families and we have a blast! There are plenty of good restaurants, fun things for children, and great beaches. Corolla is known for it's family atmosphere. It's a reasonably priced vacation.
