Our house is a side-hall Colonial painted white with black shutters. The front door is currently red, but I'm thinking of changing it up. I like bright colors. I'm thinking about a blue-green color. Is that crazy? Any suggestions? |
OP, what are the house and door colors of the 10 houses closest to you. |
I just painted mine a dark teal! So yes, blue-green. I love it. A word of advice I got from the guy at the paint store: pick one shade down from the one you think you want. I actually think I should have gone with two down, which is his recommendation. But yeah, love it. |
Most of the houses on my street are red brick with either brown or black doors. There is one house a few doors down with a beautiful purple door, but you can't see that door and my door at the same time. |
What was the paint color you used? |
Red, unless you are non-Christian, yellow, blue or purple. |
It's already red. What does religion have to do with it? |
Red is a classic but I love the idea of a deep blue-green. That's probably my favorite color ever. I can't say that I've seen it in practice on a front door though. Maybe do a search on Houzz for photos? |
Before I read your post I was going to suggest red. Love red! Would you paint it a different shade of red? (Brick, for example?) |
Love purple |
I have seen some really deep purple (eggplant) doors that look good on the white brick. I think the deep blue green would work, too. |
Bright yellow- love it. |

I've seen bright sunny yellow and bright olive-ish green that looked really nice. |
