Where should I be shopping as a 29/30 year old?

I'm small boned and around 5'8 with a 33" inseam. It's just difficult sometimes to try on outfits and it never looks right or needs to be tailored. Or I end up feeling frumpy. Sometimes I do feel weird walking into a forever 21, but some of those pieces do work for me.

I am a similar height/build as you. I have good luck at places like Theory (work stuff), Cusp, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Zara, Reiss, and places like that. I find the more upscale contemporary brands (DvF, Ted Baker, Black Halo) tend to have a slimmer fit.

I am a little older, 32, hopefully that isn't "too old" for you!

I'm 32 and like PP hoping that isn't too old either, ha. What types of clothes are you looking for, office or weekend?

For work I love Ann Taylor and LOFT. For play I like Target, Nordstrom Rack, SOME stuff from H&M and ocassionaly Forever 21, but I tend to be pickier at those last 2 because some stuff can look pretty cheap or only last a few washes and wears before the threads are fraying off or the set of a shirt is crooked.

I am built tall and lean, have a long torso and long inseam, but wide hips, I have huge, but narrow, feet. So I have always had a tough time finding well-fitting clothes and shoes. At least more companies are now making longer pants and longer shirtsleeves and narrow shoes.

FWIW I used to go for more that was inexpensive and lesser quality, clothes and shoes, and I am really recently discovering the beauty of investing in some key pieces that are better quality and that last longer. Ive also tried to find pieces I can wear to the office and then for leisure as well - like a blousy top under a blazer with a pencil skirt and wearing the same blouse front-tucked into some casual jeans on the weekend, you know? Nordstrom Rack is great for that. Loehmann's was too, but alas they are no more.

You should definitely look into finding a good tailor. They can take pieces that are "okay" and make them look as if they were made for you and you alone. This is especially great for pants (so hard to fit properly with all the body types we have), and tailored dresses.

I've been doing a lot of madewell and everlane lately. Fits my simple, clean aesthetic I like and can be worn to work or on weekends often.

I am also 5'8" with a 33" inseam, though I'm not 30 or small-boned. I always had pretty good luck finding pants at Banana Republic and J. Crew. The two companies cut things differently - J Crew's are for a more straight figure, Banana's works better if you're a bit of a pear, but I just wore my J Crew's lower on the hips.

and you might fit the pants at AT Loft better than I do, now that they started cutting them truer to size. (or maybe I've just gotten fatter, lol.) Their pants are usually about the right length for me.
