can you retrieve pics someone texted you, then you deleted? Iphone 3gs

Anonymous
Yes, I know my phone is ancient! I really don't care much for technology, and it works fine, so I've never seen the need to upgrade.

Anyway, several months ago someone sent me a picture, and after I saw it I deleted it. Now I want to see it again. I've googled and found programs that claim it can retrieve things-but has anyone actually tried it? I never backed up my phone or put anything on "clouds" (I really don't even know what those are). I am so low-tech, I'm only 39, but you'd think I was 80.
Honestly, if someone else could do it for me, I would pay. Do you think there are any cell phone stores or anything that could offer this service? Even just some college kid who is good at tech stuff?

Thanks!

Depends. Try going to the text chain. Then hit "details". The photo may be there.

I don't think this feature is supported on a 3s

OP I would do some searching in apple forums and see what you find. I'd also suggest upgrading- not because you need to have the latest and greatest, but just because with every new software update you miss out on functionality that could be useful and your phone starts to act wonky (at least mine did) if it's too many iterations behind. Good luck!

Only if you have a backup of your phone (like if you plugged it in and backed up with itunes) and can restore from that. Otherwise, no luck.

Now, the authorities may have a copy depenidng on if it was sent over the iMessage network or not, but that's a different story.

It WAS sent over the imessage network, but probably not something authorities would be interested in--nothing illegal or anything.

Thanks...yeah, I should. I just hate feeling wasteful---this is working for me now, why go through the hassle

OP back again

I found this by googling http://www.imobie.com/support/retrieve-deleted-texts-from-iphone.htm
but not really finding many reviews.

Anyone know anything about this? Thanks

There are a great many apps that claim to recover iPhone data, including text messages or other types of data. I have tried 3 ones and finally chose one from iMyFone. iMyFone D-Back enables to recover from iPhone directly or from iTunes/iCloud backup. Read this guide to learn how to recover messages from iPhone, it helps a lot.

iPhone stores messages in a SQLite database, so the number will be changed in the database when you delete messages. Remember not to turn off your iPhone in case that these messages are overwritten, and check out how to recover iPhone messages

How unlucky to have this bad experience! If you don't create an iTunes or iCloud backup, I think you should try to search a tool to get deleted text messages back. You can find reviews of several iPhone data recovery tools online, I personally like [url=https://www.phonerecoverytool.com/iphone-data-recovery.html
]iOS Data Recovery[/url], as it has ever helped me retrieve all messages and photos directly from my iPhone 6. And here is the user guide on how to recover deleted text messages on iPhone.

Why not just ask them to resend you the picture?
