Looking for articles, etc. discussing DC-area private schools

Anonymous
I thought the Post or Washingtonian Magazine periodically published articles discussing the local school landscape, but my search is coming up short.

Can anyone recommend good sources (not counting this board)?

Much appreciated.

What on earth were they basing their findings on?

Probably just on reputation. Based just on that, I think it's probably a fairly accurate list. The 5 schools that usually make every one of these types of lists (like the Worth Magazine list from a few years ago) are all on there... Sidwell, Cathedral schools, GDS, Potomac, and Maret. Perhaps we should begin referencing the "Big 5"

Each of those schools goes through 12th grade. The author of that article doesn't seem to have looked at all at the excellent area schools that focus on younger kids -- the pk-8 or k-8 schools.

Those rankings aren't at all complete or well-explained ...I don't consider it accurate or comprehensive at all, at least for those of us looking for schools for elementary education.

these don't look like rankings. they seem to be short summaries with demographic data, grouping schools by co-ed, single sex, special focus. you could find similar reports in other guides.
