| My brother just finished his first marathon and I wanted to give him something to commemorate. I looked online and see a bunch of tacky mugs. Anyone have any good ideas or something unique for men? |
| No tchotkes. Give him GC for someplace to eat, or a bar, or activity he didn't get to do while he was fitting in his training. Does he have a significant other? Then maybe a GC for a date night since those probably took a backseat during training. Or just a card saying Congratulations. |

Road ID gift card
New running socks |

I would say a blow job but seeing it is your brother you might want to pass on that idea.
|
| Give him a gift card to a massage at a fancy spa. |
| For my husband's first Ironman I had his medal, race number, and a finisher's photo framed with a plaque with the date and time. But that might be more $$ than you want to spend. Maybe just framing the race number or just the medal? |

If the marathon has an online store, buy him a nice jacket or other piece of running gear with the race logo on it. You usually get a shirt included with your race registration fee, but they often sell nicer items online or at the race site. He should be proud to tout his finishing!
I also like the massage idea. Or a gift card to a local running store. The framed bib or photo idea is nice, but not sure how you'd get ahold of his race number without him knowing. |
| OP here thanks for all the great ideas! I was thinking about a gift certificate even one that was for $26.20. A little corny I know. massage or restaurant sounds perfect. |
OP here it was the LA Marathon, I just looked at the website and they do have a store! Thanks for the idea.... |
| See which photography company covered the race (most races seem to use marathonfoto.com--but there are other companies too) and get him a gift card there. I run a lot of races, and I've always wanted my race photos--but they are expensive and I feel wasteful spending money on them. |
OP again, that's funny you say that I hated spending money on my race photos too. Thank you so much for the suggestion, I looked him up on Marathonfoto and there he is! You can even buy a presentation plaque or shadowbox with photo. Very cool! |
OP, what did you decide?
|
| I went with Marathonfoto and ordered some race photos. No one prints photos anymore so I thought it would be something special for him. Thank you everyone for the great suggestions! |
| Another idea is a medal hanger. There are some nice ones available. Try etsy and amazon. |
