| Considering Subaru , volkswagon or ?? I love having low payments under 300 with 2 or 3k down |
| You can check out lease trader or swap a lease. They advertise dealers and individuals looking to get out of leases |
| Good lease deal is an oxymoron. |
|
VW tells you up front to not lease through them...leasing the comparable audi is cheaper.
Leasing is a scam unless you can deduct, in which case you need to be looking german. |
| VW has lots of lease deals right now. |
| The Chevy volt had an incredible lease deal last year. May still be in effect. Around $300/mo. If you consider the gas you're not buying - if you buy a $50 a week - the car is only $100/mo plus around $30 in electricity provided you can plug in on both ends of your trip. If you drive a lot more than that it could be almost free. |
I thought I saw 199/mo, no money down leases on Volts last year. I didn't go for it, and don't know what they're going for now. |
+1 |
Yup, because everyone in The DC area drives a 1999 Corolla or camry. Which makes leasing a bad choice, when you to could be out there in a 90s toyota. |
no. BUY a 2-3 year old good car coming OFF a lease. |
|
Throw money away so you have no equity or long term commitment to anything? Sounds like the perfect strategy to market to millennials.
If you can't afford the car buy something cheaper. Unless you're writing off for business no one should lease a car. Ever. |
| If OP wants a nice, new car with low payments there's nothing wrong with that. In 2-3 years it will be put back into rotation for someone who wants to save more money. It's a win-win |
How much equity can you really get from a car? |
My point exactly! Cars offer ZERO equity, unless it is some rare, exotic model. |
|
I think PP's point was that with a purchase, at some point you own the car outright. The benefit is the years you get to drive it while paying nothing but maintenance.
I own my cars, drive them forever, and have always subscribed to this view, but someone on a similar thread last year posted an interesting analysis of why my view may be outmoded given some current favorable lease terms out there. I don't remember the details, and I still own my 10+ year old cars, but apparently there may be favorable leases out there, depending on the #'s. |
