Where we live now, there are two early college programs in our area that seem to be held in high regard. I was trying to get some general impressions of what early colleges are like and what their pluses and minuses are, but so far Google is not my friend. I am wondering if anyone here has personal experience with an early college that they can share or has a friend/relative whose DC attends one. TIA!! |
Do you mean programs that are essentially two years of community college for the last two years of HS? |
Sort of, except the programs are through full blown universities. Students take classes on the college campus all 4 years. They complete the HS core in the first two, and then transition to college classes for the remainder. |
A friends DC did that at SWW/GW. He then went on to 4 years of regular college at a different college. He didn't want to give up a regular college experience. I think it as okay but he got burnt out on 6 years of college. If you want to save on 2 years of tuition it can be a good option. But you've got to decide if your kid is mature enough to graduate at 20 and figure out what s/he would do. Might work for some kids but not most. |
Bard College has a program
