Wait on Interior Decorating if Planning Reno?

If you were going to renovate your house in two years would you hold off on buying new furniture and/or other items (e.g., drapes, paint) for your house until after the renovation? Assume that you're not completely sure which rooms will be affected by the reno since it'll be a large renovation, so you could potentially be decorating rooms that'll be changed in two years. Also assume that while the rooms could really use some help (e.g., aging inexpensive furniture, curtains from previous owners aren't at all to taste) it's not a dire situation where there are holes in the walls, no window treatments whatsoever, etc. Just aesthetics.

Budget-wise, we could afford it, but it's not like we're sitting on piles of money wondering what to do with it. (We bought the house two years ago and have wanted to re-decorate since then, but felt like it was best to hold off and let our savings recover a bit first.)

I'd focus on a few good pieces of furniture and some paint and maybe wait on the rest. You don't want to do custom drapes and then have the windows change size or numbers. But furniture tends to be pretty flexible and basic pieces like sofas and coffee tables you are probably going to need post reno.

you can also do simple curtains, like PB or even ikea, as a temporary thing.
