Wondering if anyone had recommendations for where I can order a small "smash cake" and slightly larger round cake for my baby's 1st birthday. Not looking to spend a ton of money, but I'd like something nicer than the standard grocery store cake with frosting flowers. I'm in Arlington, so don't want to travel too, too far.
I got our smash cake at Giant. They had these small smith island cakes that were a great size for it.
I got our smash cake at wegmans. It was tiny and about $6. They have them in the refrigerated cakes section and it's plain (no flowers) so you could have them add decorations or do what you please with it

A few other options -- Society Fair makes a "birthday cake just because" that's a teeny individual size (about 4") and would be great. They could also do a big coordinating cake, I'm sure. It's good, I can vouch for that!
Also, the Swiss Bakery (Braddock and 495) and Alexandria Pastry Cafe (King and 395) both make great cakes we've gotten for our DC's birthday. Lots of flavor choices and nice decoration options beyond Dora the Explorer plastic junk and typical grocery bakery piped flowers (although I think they can do the kiddy decor too if that's what you're looking for )

I think (thought not sure) that Harris Teeter does a free smash cake for kids first birthdays.
