Do the good preschools in DC...

... require "independent toilet-trained" kids at 3? Anyone require it earlier than 3?

It depends on what you mean by "good". In my mind, important parts of being a good preschool include being knowledgeable of child development, and respecting families' decision about how to parent their kids, and being open to serving a diverse group of kids. A school that meets that criteria, anywhere in the country, is not going to require "independent toilet training" for a 3 year old.

However, there certainly are many preschools in DC, including schools that charge a lot of money and feed into well regarded elementary schools, that have different philosophies. Other people might consider some of those schools to be the "good preschools".

Our preschool did require that children be toilet trained. Entry age was 2.5. Said they would hold a spot (as long as you paid) until child was ready.

What place is this? Are all their practices as developmentmentaly inappropriate?

Ick.
Doesn't sound like a very good school to me!

Nice spelling! That's what you get for feeding an infant and typing at the same time!
