Are there any current or former parents here? We're considering River for preschool this year and loved it during our visit. There's a post in the Preschool forum asking about various schools and no one has responded re: River so I thought I'd try here.
Have people's experiences with the school been positive? We visited many schools and were so impressed with it but I don't know any current or past families to speak with. Any info is appreciated! |
| My dd went to river for a year. It was a great experience. We left for K at a big 3. The preschool is amazing. I would recommend it. |
| I know people with children there and have heard positive feedback. I don't know much more than that! |
Thank you! It seems amazing, so glad to hear. How do they feel about families applying out for K? This is something we'd likely do as well. |
| We love River for pre-school. I haven't decided what we will do when we get to K yet. |
| Great pre-school. But do not drink the kool-aid on the school age program. We did and regret it. |
They won't be happy with you. But they'll get over it. |
| My dd attended River for 2 years of Pre K until we moved. Wonderful school. I credit them for giving her a leg up in reading ( she started figuring out coding/sounds at 3, reading by 4, and onward). they're so effective/thoughtful in their teaching. Very smart and warm teachers with personalized instruction. I'm also a stickler for good supervision, and I always felt they took excellent care of her and were very safe. She loved it. |
| We are a very happy River family. Excellent teachers/staff. They really, really get to know your kid. It feels small and intimate while also having access to top-notch resources. We moved our older kid to a big 3 but don't think we will move the younger one. |

Overall, we were very happy. DC was there through K and mostly had good teachers. Some teachers were great, others so-so, one bad (but you will find the same uneven quality of teachers at other schools). She also made good friends there with whom she is still in touch, years later. Quite a few families apply out for K and the school isn't thrilled with it, but it's not that big a deal. The school doesn't really help you with the process, but they won't hinder you, either. |
| Wonderful teachers, for sure, and they're great with phonics/reading/literacy. But the administrators are an nightmare to deal with (nasty and defensive), and the other kids/families are fairly hit-or-miss. |
