A liberal comes out as a Christian

Interesting at two levels:

First, her thought process as she embraced Christianity and, second, the comments that it has generated - some welcoming and others almost hostile.

That was an interesting read and I was somewhat surprised at the writer's level of self awareness on her own ego. Thanks for sharing it.

Conservatives don't have a monopoly on God. Liberals love Him too and He certainly loves them.

And I guarantee that God has His days when conservatives work His last nerve.

I'm sure many a liberal becomes VERY Christian on the deathbed. And that's good!

Yeah, nothing like being scared into believing. Fear and intimidation have always been God's favored tools

I don't understand -- Christianity is an extremely liberal religion. There's absolutely nothing remarkable about a liberal professing Christian faith.

Pretending that death isn't scary is what we do to avoid Christ our whole life. Christ came to defeat death not suffering. That's the entire point.

Jesus was a radical liberal.

Jesus would be excoriated on this forum. Feed the poor, turn the other cheek, serve the needy without reservation. I don't know too many conservatives that would turn the other cheek based on what I hear and read.

I have always associated Christianity with extreme liberalism. I'm not sure I even understand the premise of the article or OP's subject line. "Coming out" is an empowering gesture. But for a liberal to proclaim Christian faith -- that would really be a non-event and unsurprising.

"I am the Resurection. He that believes in Me shall never die." And, of course, God isn't talking about a physical death.

Christianity is based on the premise that nobody is good but God. It is entirely personal. The proof is how much time and effort we spend personally helping and thinking of others (not family members) compared to ourselves. That is a embarrassing ratio for me and everybody I know of. I'm sure it will be brought up at the judgement.
