Have you ever replaced foam cushions on sofa?

Anonymous
Our sectional's cushions are worn out and uncomfortable but we really don't have the money for a new couch. Aside from the foam being mishapened the couch is in otherwise great shape. I saw online there are sites that you can just order foam cushions from. Has anyone done this? Any recommendations?

Yes, there is a foam shop in merrifield that will do this for you.

I went to Yi's upholstery in Rockville with the same issue. It was going to cost at least $500 to do just the back cushions on a relatively small sectional (90x105.) Priced it out on the internet and costs were similarly high. I went to a fabric place and bought foam and did it myself. It cost about $200 and was definitely a modest improvement, at least in terms of looks. But after a few months, my husband offered to spring for a new sofa. Just arrived a few weeks ago, and it's a huge improvement.

Foam is crazy expensive! Prepare yourself.

Yes, we replaced the foam when the sofa was still new, because it was just too soft. We used the foam place that's in Merrifield. (Back when it was in Arlington, that's how long ago.) It is not cheap.

Go to the JoAnn fabric website and sign up for their mailing list. You'll get a 40% off coupon in the snail mail and email every two weeks. I never buy anything pricey there without a coupon.

Can anyone site how expensive?

NP here. Where is the place in Merrifield and what is it called? For those DIYers, did you remove and replace the cushions or just add an extra layer? Our seat cushions have springs in them, and the outer foam wrapped around the springy cushion seems like it could just be reinforced with an outer layer. Anyone do this? I really just have an issue with three seat cushions-- not the back ones.
