Jeff,
This may just be my computer, but I am noticing that it is taking a very long time to move between posts on DCUM lately. I am not experiencing the same problem with other sites. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the advertisements downloading time? Have you made any changes lately that could account for this? Just wondering because if not, I need to figure out what is going on with my computer.... Thanks! |
It looks like the connection between you and DCUM is pretty fast and -- as far as I know -- our servers are working pretty quickly today. So, I don't know that it is your computer (probably not), but I don't think it is a DCUM problem.

I was just coming here to post about the same thing. Lately, the google adware servers are taking forever to load. Moving from the recent topic lists to an individual thread, or from the thread back to the recent topics list, the adware has to run, open a connection to the next ad, and load that ad. What used to take 3-8 seconds now seems to be taking 10-15 seconds and is getting painful.
I end up clicking a thread, then when the ad starts to load, I click the X cancel button and wait for it to cancel the ad load. I'm sorry if this hurts your ad revenue when I do this, but it's painful. It seems to have gotten steadily worse since you rebuilt the server after the big crash. |
This is strange because the ads are supposed to load independently and should delay your page loading. For what it's worth, the ads load very fast for me. I wonder if your institution is running a proxy or virus scanner that is slowing things down for you. Do you see anything similar elsewhere? |
