Chandelier light bulbs

I want to be energy efficient, but chandelier CFL light bulbs suck! The throw light out, but not down, and are really ugly. They look like a rocket ship in my antique light fixtures. It seems like every light fixture I've bought this year needs chandelier light bulbs too (even fans).

Those all look like rocket ships too. I think the problem is that they have the white part at the bottom. It sticks up pretty high. |
