Finding a properly fitting slipcover

Anonymous
My DH had bought a new sofa shortly before we moved in together- it's very nice, but we have cats who scratch and shed and always have it covered with a slipcover. However, the slipcover we currently use is horrible- it does not fit properly and I always struggle to get it back on after washing. How to find one that actually fits?? I'm sure custom would be more expensive but it might be worth it. Any ideas?

I like the ones from LL Bean. They have a bunch of different shapes and sizes.

A slipcover that actually fits is usually custom made.

OP, I am going through this very thing right now, except mine is a small chair instead of a couch. I washed the slip cover in hot water and dried it using the hot cycle. It shrank a tiny bit. For me, the shrinkage was not enough, but maybe it will be for you.

OP here- should have elaborated but I've certainly wash/dried it many times- it's actually an odd fit because it is too tight in one dimension and too big in the other! I had originally gotten it for another sofa I had at the time.

Have you tried Sure Fit. surefit.com. Not the most exciting choices but the stretch covers are pretty good on fit and these are not at all expensive.
