How much do you online stalk your college kid

I'm having a hard time not checking her Facebook and then checking out her new friends.

Get a hold of yourself. Checking out her new friends? For what, exactly? And what happens if they don't pass muster?
Anonymous
I confess. I do it too. Our son has a lot of friends who are girls, however, and he's gotten so tired of me asking "Is she your girlfriend?" But I understand all the good stuff happens on the instragrams, twitters, vines, etc. that we don't have access to.

When she left for college, I asked DD to unfriend me and other family members outside her generation. But I do make her call me weekly and she texts me several times a week (many times just a few words or a picture). Miss that girl!

I don't have a FB account, so I don't cyber-stalk my DC.

College kids don't use Facebook, or if they do they post a very sanitized version of their lives in case any parents are stalking them. The real nudie/drunken pictures are posted elsewhere.

I don't stalk her at all. For what?

I never stalked my kid either. You sound really sad OP.

I don't think it's sad or stalking. Just a quick view on what their world looks like now that they're away from home.

DD rarely uses Facebook anymore, which is likely why we're still friends on it, along with a number of relatives. I wouldn't ask to follow her on Twitter or Instagram. She will be in college next year.

+1 to this. My DS's Facebook page is boring. The good stuff he posts to Instagram, SnapChat or Twitter. I usually only see it when our younger daughter (who follows DS) shows us something. Honestly, sometimes it's better not to know...

Yes, not finding good stuff on FB!

My kid posts nothing but every weekend she is included in pix posted by others.

I check her friend's pages also.

I don't stalk my college kids' facebook pages. But I am "friends" with them, so I see their status updates. Every once in a while I'll post something to their walls. No different than the way I interact with my sisters or other family members.

Curiosity definitely gets me but I refrain from doing so. I want to respect her privacy and know how pictures can be misleading, as long as she connects with me via text once a day or so and is happy and safe, that is enough for me!
