My son is very keen on applying....i am not sure why. I know its considered to be a good school, but I have heard a bit about the boy culture there. Can anyone credibly shed some light on this? I don't want to go by what I have heard but the little i have heard would make me think this would not be a great fit for my son.
Thank you. |
Northern boys love it. Northern girls hate it. For the same reasons. |
What is boy culture? I graduated from vandy in 02 and have no idea what this is. |
Why are you so hostile to young men? |
probably guys acting like they still have their b***s intact |
Too Greek. |
Nailed it in one. |
My brother went to Vandy. He is conservative, married a Kappa girl from Houston, and became an oil and gas lawyer in Oklahoma City. My understanding is this is a typical path. |
how is OP's post hostile to young men? Stupid! I think its very Greek and most social activities revolve around Greek like, frat events, etc...it's a real "men's club" kind of environment if your s likes that. |
I would Google the recent articles about the rape case at Vanderbilt. That will probably tell you a lot about the culture. |
Any school that has a strong Greek culture is trouble. |
The rape case was extremely disturbing however in fairness it could happen anywhere. I do not think it's fair to say that horrible incident points to the culture of boys there. But any school or at least most schools that have an open Greek life do somehow invite bad things and negative press. |
I took the vandy rape case as another instance of Div I football run amok, not necessarily an indictment of the male student population at large. |
Vanderbilt is a weird school. Ivy League academics mixed with SEC party culture. The first is why people in this area consider it, but the second stops it from being totally accepted... |
eh depends if they are white or not. 2 pa asian guys that were friends with my younger sister both transfered after a year (they were different years). |
