Even the richest and brightest of our youth are falling behind. The Asian and White Americans are not performing better than their counter parts in other countries. Stop saying it is just an achievement gap story. |
Most important sentence in the article. The article provides absolutely zero explanation of why. Worthless fear mongering. |
| You can close the gap from the top or from the bottom--unfortunately........ |
| What's SES? |
| socioeconomic status |
| Goes to show that even pre-Common Core, our most affluent, supposedly "smartest" students weren't doing that well compared to kids in other countries. |
apples and oranges |
In what way? |
Yep, made even more interesting when Fed funds are up for grabs by subscribing to common core and "testing well". But agree, fluff piece not saying anything. Does confirm that U.S. Public schools aren't teaching ANY segment well or to potential - not the poor, not the illiterate illegals, not the neglected mididle class, and not the upper class for whom they redirected away most funds/tracking. |

Rich shanghiese will blow your socks off on any test. Funny how china only sends that province's data.
Yes we know America is a hodgepodge of students. You think that would make the state or locality more in charge of the curriculum and projects. But no, instead it just got federalize do by Obamas common core standards and tests! |
Doesn't confirm anything. |
Cheating is rampant in China though I'm surprised they wouldn't use more districts unless they don't bother cheating on the Pisa. If you just used Massachusett's Pisa scores we're 5th in the world. It's all relative |
How about local? VA, DC, MD? |
The kids being tested now have had many years not following common core. We won't really know if common core has made any difference till we start comparing kids who started with it in 1st to 12 compared to those kids who never had it. |
The point was that the curriculums that were being used pre CC obviously weren't that great either if you use this as a measure of how well they did on the tests. |
