In the past, the biggest problems with having a roommate were one who snores, plays loud music, is a slob, etc. Now, how can you be sure they're psychotic. |
*not psychotic |
| Friend's kid's roommate keeps getting arrested for drugs. Finally thrown out of school. |
Wassup with crazy korean boys? |
|
I guess the college will get him a new roommate now. Sometimes you complain and you don't get a new one. |
Tiger parents. Expectations are too high. |
| Another racist bigot. |
I'm reminded that I frightened my freshman roommate (or so she joked later) 20 years ago because when she arrived, I was using a box cutter... to break down my shipping boxes. But obviously, there's a certain degree of trust that's expected, and I don't know how schools could realistically promise parents and students that it's safe for students to close their eyes in the presence of a stranger. |
And we used to walk to school five miles in the snow. Please. First of all the reason this is getting media attention is because its so rare. And, second, nothing that happens now is new. In the old days the biggest problems were not snoring, loud music and messiness. |
Sorry, there's definitely something to this, no matter what your color. |
| Why don't they say which university this is? |
so that future applicants are not scared away! Normally the costs does it but this incident would seal the deal... |
A quick Google search reveals: Santa Clara University. |
What's your timeframe of 'the old days?' |
I don't like to generalize, and only a small proportion of Koreans go psychotic, but raising kids in a very high pressure environment can have consequences. |
