Tybee Island Rentals?

Anonymous
We're going to a wedding on Tybee Island, GA (right outside Savannah) and thinking of renting a house. Any recommendations for 3 BR houses? Rental companies that are good (or ones to avoid)? TIA

When are you going? I'm from there and if you go at a certain time it will be overrun with drunk Georgia southern students in which case it would be better to stay in Savannah. Tybee is a serviceable beach but really not awesome.

Tybee is just fine. It is a throwback to the fifties, though. It is DH's favorite beach.

OP here, we're going the last week in June. Looks like a small town -- I'm envisioning a lower key Dewey with some Rehoboth thrown in. Am I right?

I'm not sure, I've never been to either of those. It's small, you are right about that. There's a lighthouse you can go up in.

Haven't been to those, either. There is also a fort (Jackson) that you can explore. Savannah is less than a half hour away. Lots to see there.
Do you have kids?

My parents rent their house through Sandy's by the Shore. They have used them as their property manager for 4+ years with no problems.

Think 1/8 of the size of Dewey/Rehoboth.

My kids love to visit - but really there isn't that much to do there.

PP again -

things to do:

Climb the lighthouse
explore Fort Pulaski (en route to the island)
Take a dolphin cruise
rent jetskis/kayaks and explore
have dinner at Fanny's on the Beach - have a drink, eat, listen to the band overlooking the ocean
Go into downtown Savannah (20m drive)

went to school in Savannah years ago, and it was my parents favorite. We used Tybee Vacation Rentals a couple of years ago and had a great experience!

Tybee is small and quaint, with lots to do in Savannah about a 20-25 minute drive away. You will need a car.

I am 15:57... also for things to do, the tip of the island is so pretty and fun to explore at low tide. The bar goes out for ever and creates little pools of ocean water. We could find live sand dollars and lots of neat things!

It is a pretty island to explore!

Great suggestions - thanks! We have a toddler so small/low key works for us!

great. Tybee will be much better for the toddler than staying in Savannah.
