My brother is across an ocean. We whatsapp a lot. Video chat once in a while, monthly maybe.
We FaceTime every weekend. We both are married and have kids, but he lives in LA while I live in DC. I feel really fortunate that we are as close as we are.
I have one brother and he is 2.5 years younger than me. We were very close growing up and we also have an older sister. We're all very close. We have a group chat where we text every day. It can be simple such as sharing a funny TikTok. Both of my siblings are 1.5 hour drive, I see them 2x a month.
I have two brothers - they live close to one another; I'm further away. My younger brother (by 6 years) and I talk almost every day on the phone and text 3-4 times per day. My older brother (by 1.5 year) and I talk maybe 2 times per year? We mostly text, but that's super infrequent, and only for specific purposes!
That’s so sad. |
I have one younger brother and we text multiple times a day. He’s my best friend.
One brother. Text every week or so, chat on the phone every couple months. We live on opposite coasts. It used to be less but we've been making more of an effort during Covid. I also just got a scary health diagnosis so he has been reaching out more often to check in on how I'm doing.
My brother lives in Texas and we rarely talk but text weekly. I love him and would do anything for him but we don’t have much in common.
We use to talk often. But he made some bad life choices and I had kids and needed to give space. We talk now only every couple of months. Text about the same. Makes me sad but hope when he gets married and has kids we can close again.
My brother and I text every couple days and do video chats with our kids maybe every 2 weeks. We have preschoolers that are close in age.

My husband and his sister talk daily- she lives abroad.
They are such different people it's actually amazing that they were raised together. My SIL has had a difficult life but she is such a snot- she cannot hide her complete disdain for DH and I at all times and often lectures him. But they... love each other? It's a very weird dynamic. I hope my kids can get over their differences and be so devoted to one another when they get older. |
daily. We are both mid 40s. Live in different parts of the country.
These replies are so interesting to me. There is no human besides the ones I live with who I text or speak to daily !
I am 53. One brother is 49. Extremely rarely. No real relationship outside of family events. My mom told me that he got a new job. I texted him to say "Congrats!" He thanked me, told me that he us excited. He never asked me how I was. The entire text exchange was about 20 words. He is excellent on the computer, and he is helpful when I need his help. He has also lent me money. My brother who is 12 years younger than I am is one of my best friends! We may go a week without talk\text, but then we mat also speak several days in a row. He us my partner in crime with my parents.

I am very close to my brothers, but we don't talk that often unless some event/milestone is coming up. Each of them is in a different continent (3 continents between the 3 of us) We might chat on Whats App biweekly or several times a day depending on the events.
If my younger brother is taking an important exam, or moving, or seeing someone new, we might talk several times a day/week. If my older brother is organizing a birthday party for his kids, or getting ready for Christmas/school, changing jobs, we might talk several times a day. If someone is sick, we call them several times a day/week. Otherwise we chat "Hello, how is everyone doing?" and exchange/send pictures of the kids biweekly or so. However, when we are in the same town, we see each other a LOT. It's very different from my communication with my sisters; we talk pretty much every day (and I see the one in the same state at least once a week). |
