There are lots of wealthy families who hire nannies and give them weeks/months off. |
Yes, of course, we pay our housekeeper her full rate when we go away. Our nanny too. |
We pay and we are gone for 2+ months every year |
Yes of course. It’s called guaranteed hours. YOU are choosing to go away that’s not the fault of your employee.
Now if you don’t want to pay her fine - she can get another position those weeks you’re gone and when you’re back she can CHOOSE if she want to come back. |
Do you stop paying your mortgage or rent on the weeks you’re gone? Cause you know you’re not in your home.
Do you stop your car payments and insurance while you’re gone ? Cause you’re not using them? What do you not pay your cell bill for the hours you aren’t on your phone? Come on OP. Just say you’re cheap and move along |
Would you like to have a nanny when you return from holiday? Then yes you pay the nanny.
- a nanny, who would use unpaid weeks to look for a new job |
That’s my job. So far this year I’ve worked 6 months and I’ve had 4 months off (3 months and now 1 month.) going back next week but will have off 1 week at thanksgiving and 2 weeks at Christmas and nye. Paid the whole time. They choose not to need me that’s on them |
If you want a nanny when you get back then you pay her every single week, just like you get paid every week by your employer! Cheap people like you are penny wise and pound foolish and you're probably paying way under par so your won't be keeping any nanny very long. |
You can't afford a nanny if paying her when you're away is a financial hardship. You could not even afford to have a child. |
What does money have to do with it? We make nearly $1mm/year. We make that by working. That’s why we have a nanny. If you meant “people who don’t work” there must not be *that* many idly wealthy people hiring nannies or I could never hire. |
It's not about being cheap, but let's face it, when you go away for more than your assigned vacation days from work even your employer cannot give your paid days. Your have to start taking unpaid days off. Plus, I don't understand why nanny jobs are being compared to white collar jobs? Agreed, they are the ones taking such great care of your kid, but if we start giving them perks like working in a corporate environment, hey- why is your nanny not in a corporate world, or why don't we stay home and take care of our babies? Unfortunately, the expectations and standards are set so high to begin with and they get to reap the benefits of that. |
Yes. |
Do you want to get paid if your company closes and you can't work? |
Either you can afford a nanny or you can’t. You can’t. It’s that simple. |
