Yes absolutely you’re welcome in our mosques - Muslim |
Sounds like you didn't join, though -- was that sign a factor? |
which is not the same as visiting different denominations (and congregations) in Christian churches have different ideas about profession of belief as a condition for formal membership, and a minister may have his or her own ideas about that without saying things about an individual's belief to church membership |
I disagree. It’s even harder for young and middle aged people (particularly men) to make friends now than it was 40 years ago, especially in urban areas. People are much more transitory, less likely to live near family, and less likely to stay at the same job for decades. It’s as essential now as it ever was to have a community and a place of belonging. |
Some people enjoy the ritual |
Yes, I am Catholic and know atheists who visits as tourists AND some who attend Mass with their families. |
I have been on many committees. Everyone was aware of our financial constraints. The policy is to please contribute tine, talent, or treasure. This has been my parish 17 years and no one has ever pressured me for money. |
Southern Baptists would love for atheists (or anyone else) to visit their churches. Their hope would be that an atheist, or anyone else who hasn’t accepted Jesus as their Savior, would eventually find salvation.

People rarely visit those churches unless they have family that are members. I know Hillsong is a different denomination (is it non-denom?), but a coworker’s atheists son and DIL joined for the music. They were both musicians and got to travel and do other amazing things. I think they faked being devote for three years, but weren’t really pressed on it. They left when the son started questioning his sexuality. |
I think this is a huge strength for Episcopalians, the welcoming atmosphere without the preachy rigid and false emphasis on dogma or creed found in other denominations. |
I decided that I didn't want to belong to any church. I prefer Eastern spirituality. But I appreciated the welcome and inclusiveness. |
Keep in mind their denomination just split in the US over dogma. I’m Catholic and feel mostly at home attending Episcopalian services if I visit friends, but Baptist just doesn’t work for me. I need ritual and laws I guess. |
The Methodists recently split - but not the Episcopalians, I don't think. |
Episcopalians split, but not as recently as the Methodists who are currently in the process of splitting. |
Nah. The South Park episode has some catchy songs and provides a surprisingly accurate history of how the church was founded. |
