Are teens just more particular these days?

I hate when people serve water from those pitchers in their refrigerator. Why do you even have this? The water tastes like their old refrigerator food. Sorry, but yuck. Water from the refrigerator spout is only slightly better. The refrigerator filters are very basic and the tubing the water comes out of is usually mildewed with no way to clean in. Again, pass. I’ll take my chances with tap water

Best thing is get a whole house filtration system. Second best, get a good quality under the sink filter. Done. Use the tap water at liberty. Plus better for cooking.

I don't. It tastes really gross. I'm the person who has always only drank water and can taste differences in water from different places.

You’re not some super-taster or anything. As far as I know, everyone can taste the difference in water from different sources/locations. Most people are just polite enough to not make a big deal about it.

I'm sitting here wondering if my teen DC2 has ever used a bar of soap, lol. I'm not sure he would know what to do with one. I use a bar, actually, in my shower, but DH prefers body wash and that's what he buys for the kids' bathroom. My parents (who host DC2 overnight frequently) also use body wash. I guess DC might have used a bar of soap at a hotel, but it's just as likely he has looked around, seen no body wash, and just gone without or used shampoo lol. It never occurred to me until just now that I might need to explain to him how a bar of soap works!

I don't know about the water but I've not touched a *bar* of soap since the 1990s

Probably just what they are used to at home. As others said, the kid who took a shower may never have used a bar of soap if his family has always had the bottle wash version. There are so many options and varieties of things these days that it might happen more now...

We are visiting my brother and my teen asked how to turn on the shower since it was different than ours. If I wasn’t here, he probably would’ve skipped the shower. It’s just different. He did eat some food that I know he doesn’t like because I taught him not to be rude if the food was put in front of him. Last night, they asked him what he wanted and he got what he wanted. I would hope he would never be rude but you never know.

I don't think teens are more particular, but huge selection of option means they have their favorites. I wouldn't put the two kids in the same category.
