Love is not preaching.

Plus it’s pride month. Good for Dr Jill

She needs to stop her milania obsession. Childish and not positive.

Isn’t it “Melania”? I know it’s childish and not positive of me to point this out, but if you’re going to accuse people you likely have never met of having obsessions that you’ve invented, spelling said ersatz obsessions correctly might bolster your credibility a tad.

+1 There's one person who's been posting about "Milania" in this thread and it's like nails on a chalkboard.

+1 Yup. Love is love is love is love (thanks Lin-Manuel!)

Since when is love political? Is it because it's being conveyed by a politician's wife? In that case, anything referencing fashion or beauty of people related to politics would be considered political.

+1. I like Dr Jill a lot. Just not a fan of this move.

If you're against words on clothing, fine. But the messaging certainly does matter.

LOL. Bonus points for using "ersatz."

Exactly. Love is the one thing that rises above the political.

I thought it was petty. I didn't think she had to counter ex-first lady like THAT.

Yeah, delivering cookies to the national guard was taking the high road. This, not so much. Whoever suggested it is not as clever as they thought.

I liked it. People complaining about a jacket that says "love" seem petty to me. We could all use a bit more love in our lives these days.

You, obviously, are not getting the point. And that's okay.

The fact that some of you think “love” is political shows how hateful things have been.

No, I think I understand the point about supporting "love" perfectly well. But if you have no better argument for being petty, then I understand your last post perfectly.

Here’s the thing: Not everyone has the Trumps continuing to take up space in their brains. Unless you truly believe that anyone wearing clothing with visible words or even any First Lady wearing a jacket with visible words is doing so Because Melanie — maybe dislike the jacket on its own merits.

Wait, so you sincerely don't think it was intentional as a counterpoint to Melania?

My take:

1. Writing on clothing is, as a matter of fashion, not a good choice.

2. Writing on clothing as an intentional counterpoint to the prior administration is..... still not a good choice. I mean, I GET it, but as others have said it was unnecessary and basically just put Melania back in the news. Stick to making good policy and good government.

Jill Biden’s jacket is widely assumed to be a rejoinder to Melania Trump’s one emblazoned with “I Really Don’t Care, Do U?” It’s debatable how subtle capital diamanté letters are, but the sentiment of love is very much appreciated. Biden is a good egg; I like her a lot. That said, this blazer isn’t the sort of thing one would buy out of choice, but rather looks like an emergency purchase on a foreign holiday when caught out by the weather – the least awful item on the town square market.

+1. It’s an ugly jacket. But I also feel like it’s okay as a tool to set a new tone. It’s like having a big sign in the K classroom saying SHARE. Yes, it’s dumb that people need big signs to remind them of what should be core values. But apparently that’s where we have been for the past few years. We all need to be sent back to Kindergarten for training in basic decency and kindness. LOVE, people. Jesus thought it was the most important thing, and he wasn’t wrong on this one.
